I am interested in how objects and materials can create narrative or converse when put together. My concern is specifically communication and fashion trends, not necessarily fashion that you wear, but fashions and fads of behaviour in society. My materials range moving from solid plaster forms to created sound elements. Whilst having a varied practise I keep a similar aesthetic running through the work which often looks crudely made. I use domestic and everyday materials as a source often replicating them to imagine a kind of fantasy existence. I use these types of objects because they surround us every day and I believe they have an ever-changing, ephemeral existence depending on how you situate them.

Although many bird specimens were collected during the world-circling explorations of Captain Cook in the late 1760’s and 1770’s, relatively few of these have survived. ‘Birdcage’ is a gathering of mystical and imaginary descendants of the species.

It’s all about colour. Painters usually select the colours they want to use to achieve the desired effect. I have reversed that and instead focussed on the natural colours of seas and skies around us.

In my work I combine painting, collage and decollage (cutting or sanding away the built up surface to reveal layers below). I free associate cut up text and images to create a self-contained scenario with its own reality. I'm a big fan of haiku and the gentle playfulness that helps us view everyday life with fresh eyes.

I am interested in capturing people and places in acrylic, watercolour and egg tempera. Inspired by water and reflections, a warm summer day and how the glow of the sun brings objects alive, big billowy clouds and the fascinating shapes that are created, and finally, all the captured moments and stories that happen during life’s journey. I studied drawing and painting in the 80’s at Douglas College and Ontario College of Art in Canada, spending one year in Florence, Italy. My area of specialty is Fine Art with particular interest in the figure.

Danish land and seascapes from a month's sojourn in West Jutland. My watercolours and acrylic paintings show a preoccupation with the movement of clouds and light on water in a place on a spit of sand, caught between lake and sea and sky.

As a Set Designer with a background in Architectural Design, I’m interested in how ceramics can be used as a tool for ‘drawing’ and visualising structures and environments. I create constructed objects that in my mind are at scale, but could also be seen as finished objects. I’m also interested in how computer aided design and construction processes can be used with ceramics. In particular I am experimenting with a porcelain based product called Keraflex, which can be laser cut to the precision of a fraction of a millimeter, and then fired in the kiln.

A multi-faceted artist with a passion for ideas and diversity. Work is triggered by injustices and causes within personal life, family, community and world issues and followed in themes and explorations. An awareness artist and a facilitator. Materials used are often recycled and taken out of context to impart a message – sometimes tongue in cheek and with humour. The format can be 2D or sculptural and range from clay, papier-mache, collage and life drawing. An artist evolving with the changing tide.
